For Residents
It's in the Bag is a community partnership that relies on residents and businesses alike. Plastic shopping bags, food bags, and product wrapping are all materials that are generated by consumer use (mostly at-home) and these items are easily recycled. As a resident, you can participate in the following ways:
Collect accepted materials at home and drop off at participating It’s In the Bag locations in your community.
Encourage businesses, such as local retailers or your employer, to participate in the program. Businesses generally have stretch wrap waste, which is accepted as part of the recycling program. At work, employees can also collect the “consumer-type” bags and product wrappings as part of the program.
Inquire with your local retailers or your employer about adding Message in a Bottle to the It’s In the Bag recycling program. Collect plastic bottles, aluminum / tin cans, and glass bottles to provide additional employment opportunities for local adults with disabilities.
